CHANGING THE WORLD WITH ONE ACT OF KINDNESS AT A TIME

Philippines Sewing Machines – Bridge

We have been able to set up a wonderful facility for the training of the sewing machines and also with the potential to use it for the training of a dressing making and also manicure and pedicures.

It will be used for the production of the order of tote bags with up to 20 people working here at one time. We will utilise the building, raising money and awareness for Change the One and also the women’s brigade. We will conduct hairdressing training, manicure and pedicure. Los Banos is the home of the university of the Philippines and there are several thousand students living in the area. This is a great opportunity to train people in new skills offering a discount to the students will raise money and awareness for Change the One and the women’s brigade.

Abby and Peter were able to deliver the donated football gear and boots from the Reagan Milstein Foundation https://www.rmf.world/   to coach Lucy. The response from the children was just remarkable. They generally do not have any jerseys and the boots that they are wearing are shared between all the students, at times toes are hanging out the front of the boots.

The bridge that we installed earlier in the year, Peter inspected & was extremely pleased with parts of the project that have been done such as a concrete footpath This will give them easier access to the bridge. The bridge itself although being extremely good compared to what they had, is still not good enough and has not been finished to a standard that Peter would like. Abby and Peter have another meeting with the local official Jhun to discuss the cleaning up of the site and the finishing off to a better standard of the bridge.

Albert, one of the committee members here in the Philippines is always able to put together wonderful videos all the projects that we’re doing here and the one recently to the bridge was exceptional. This was posted on social media and a very old school friend of Peter’s, viewed the video and wants to donate $2500 Australian dollars to the project so that it can be completed to a better standard. Depending on the cost finish off the bridge there may be sufficient funds to put a floor into the home that Abby and Peter went into. In a tiny, tiny shack where Peter was actually nervous about falling through the floor there were 12 family members living in what can be described as most disgusting poor conditions, yet they were all happy and smiling.
